Compliance Testing

The USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) manages a Compliance Program to help ensure that USB-enabled products not only work according to the USB specifications and requirements, but also exhibit acceptable levels of USB functionality and interoperability. Passage of this test is a key milestone in all USB product development efforts.

To pass the USB-IF Compliance Test, developers can either submit their product to an authorized
Independent Test Lab, or participate in a compliance workshop sponsored by the USB-IF on a quarterly basis in various locations. The USB-IF sponsored Compliance Workshops are limited to USB-IF members. Once a product has successfully passed the Compliance Test for product quality, it is eligible to bear the USB-IF logo.

The USB software is one component of the entire system that is tested by the USB-IF Compliance Tests.  In order for a USB product to achieve certification, the product's hardware and overall software must be capable of passing compliance.

FreeRange runs all of its USB software against the USB-IF Compliance test programs. By making this test a central part of our product development process, we ensure that our code runs well with certified USB hardware and help eliminate problems that might otherwise arise as the final product is run through its own Compliance Test.
